Dangling Cat Necklace
This whimsical cat has been adapted from Edward Gorey's cover illustration for Amphigorey: Fifteen Books, a collection of his work published between 1953 and 1965. Sporting a striped sweater, the cat was drawn dangling upside-down by its paws from the crossbar of the letter H with a delighted smile. It’s a brilliant example of Gorey's tendency to draw cats in improbable poses. His initials are engraved on the back.
Made of sterling silver, the chain measures 17 inches long. The pendant is approximately 1/4 inch tall by 3/4 inch wide and is created through the lost wax casting process, used since early Egyptian times for casting fine metals where the highest level of detail was required.
